Our Mission
Mission of Teller County Public Health - To prevent disease and to protect and promote the
health of Teller County, Colorado citizens by assuring quality preventative
health programs and services.
What is Public Health? It is monitoring the health status of the Teller County citizens
and forming community partnerships to identify and solve heath problems.
It is informing, educating and empowering the community to take control of its
health. As we advance into the new millennium, Teller County Public Health
looks forward to working with the community to address issues of teen pregnancy,
drug and alcohol use, and access to medical care. Our goal is to develop
policies and plans that support individual and community health.

Healthier Living Colorado Classes Start in September..call to enroll
Are you dealing with chronic health issues? Research out of Stanford University shows Healthier Living Colorado helps participants cope with fatigue, frustration, pain and stress caused by living with ongoing health challenges like heart or lung disease, diabetes, arthritis or other health issues.
This chronic disease self-management program meets weekly for six weeks at the Woodland Park Library on Wednesdays from 5:30pm to 8pm.

Free Dental Care Event for Teller Residents with a Critical Need
Are you without Medicaid, CHP+, dental insurance or a regular dentist? Do you not have enough money to pay for dental care? Do you have a critical dental need? Colorado Mission of Mercy (COMOM) is a large scale dental clinic where dental treatment is provided at no cost to individuals who cannot afford dental care. Adults and children are welcome at COMOM. Clients must undergo a screening process to receive a voucher for care. Meningitis Alert for Young Adults/Students
Since May30th 4 cases of meningitis have been confirmed in Larimer County, including 2 deaths. One case is a Colorado State University student and 3 are members in the same division of an adult hockey league in Fort Collins. Larimer County has recommended vaccination for hockey players. The Center for Disease control recommends vaccination for all previously unvaccinated college freshmen who will be living in dormitories and previously unvaccinated 11-18 year olds. Would you like to join with others who love hiking in beautiful southern Colorado? Teller Trekkers is for you!
This year Teller Trekkers will be splitting into two groups:
The 2-Boot Group will meet on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays, 8:00 am at the Centennial Trail Parking Lot in Woodland Park (Next to Pikes Peak Credit Union - across the street from Langstaff-Brown). The 2-booters will stick to fairly level terrain, hiking 3 to 5 miles, 2 - 3 hours.
Join The Harvest Center group on the first 2-boot hike of the 2010 season. Meet in Woodland Park to carpool to the Garden of the Gods Visitor Center on 30th Street. Nancy Remmler will guide the group on trails from the Visitor Center. Contact Nancy at

This year the 3-booters will branch out a little more and add a couple of all day hikes. 3-boot hikes are usually 8 to 10 miles, 5 - 6 hours. The first 3-booter will be Wednesday, 12 May. Meet at 8:30 am at the Senior Center and carpool to Penrose to hike Beaver Creek (West of Cheyenne Mountain).
